Pirate Life Stout

By Pirate Life 08 Jun 2017

“No animal, according to the rules of animal-etiquette, is ever expected to do anything strenuous, or heroic, or even moderately active during the off-season of winter.”

Kenneth Grahame, The Wind in the Willows

The summer months have moved on and winter is well and truly upon us. When the short, cold and rainy days draw you indoors, you search for something rich and warming to keep your spirits up. Previously there were three options: lighting a fire - which requires what could be described as at least moderate levels of work; cooking a hearty stew - also a fine option, but so very time consuming without adequate planning; and lastly cutting open a horse, nuding up and sleeping inside the hollowed out carcass - ala Leonardo Dicaprio in the Revenant.

Here a Pirate Life we decided that none of the above really tickled the old fancy. The call was made to find something easier, something quicker, something which requires less horse entrails… The answer: Pirate Life Stout.

A smooth 7.2% Stout brewed with Oats, Black and Chocolate malts, EKG, Fuggles and Columbus hops, Pirate Life Stout is perfect for the cooler months. The malts take centre stage with a cacophony of coffee, chocolate and sticky date pudding and a rich creamy mouthfeel thanks to the oats. Columbus smacks the palate with a healthy dose of bitterness while late additions of EKG and Fuggles lend a gentle, earthy spiciness to the beer. The result is a stout that we here at Pirate Life are excited to share with you all.

We hope that this beer finds its way to you sometime this winter, on a cold day when you left for work in the dark and arrived home as the sun was going down. When you need something to wash away the cold. Comfort in a can. Pirate Life Stout. You might end up wishing winter lasted longer...

The new 500 mL Stout cans will be available this week at bottle shops and bars nationwide.

Cheers,
