This week marks the end of an era with us saying goodbye to the Palais Imports showroom out the front of the brewery. Palais will be moving to another location in Adelaide and continue to stock a sweet range of imported beers from around the world. Our plan is to renovate the space and have a Pirate Life bar and beer store ready to roll for summertime. As a result the space will not be open over November while renovations are underway but we will let you know as soon as it is ready to go!
This week also saw us roll in our new RO plant ready to get the job done over summer. Our old RO plant was way too small to handle the heat we were throwing at it. It battled along but we can’t really say that we were sad to see the back of it. The new plant will churn out 2500L of delightfully pure water every hour meaning that combined with our third tank expansion later in the month we will be able to brew a lot more beer every week.
Since we will be brewing almost double our current capacity of beer we had to come up with a plan to fuel the crew through the upcoming summer. Enter our stainless welder and reigning South Australian indoor archery champion Matty Holland. Matty spent a week last month putting together a killer custom smoker for us.
The smoker was handmade out of scrap metal all the way down to the wheels. We fired it up for the first time this week with the crew getting stuck into a pretty tasty lunch of Brisket and Pork Shoulder on Thursday. The smoker was fired by mallee root, hickory and red gum for a sneaky 8 hours and the results were pretty magical.
So another solid week for us here at the Brewery. This weekend you can catch the crew around the country as festival season kicks off in earnest. We will have soldiers on the ground all weekend in Perth for the Bar Pop Craft Beer Festival, Saturday in Canberra at The Beer Day Out Festival and Saturday in Newcastle at the This That Festival.
The sun should be shining so come have a beer with us and a yarn about the new equipment, smoked meat or our plans for the new bar. Good beer and sunshine sounds like a perfect combination...
