March marks a year since our brewery first swung open its doors and started sending out beer across Australia. This time last year we launched our beers down at the Gilbert St Hotel in Adelaide, with a bunch of our mates and absolutely no idea just how crazy our first year was going to be. It is an understatement to say it has been massive and to celebrate our birthday we have decided to head back to the Gilberto and up the ante. Last year we took over the entire hotel, this year we are taking over an entire street.
The plan is pretty simple: On Sunday March 6th we are shutting shut off Russell Street here in Adelaide, laying down a heap of turf, throwing a tonne of delicious meat on the barbeque, inviting our favourite blues duo JJ Fields and Snooks La Vei down to play some blues and pouring a heap of Pirate Life beer. Basically we are creating Adelaide’s best beer garden for the afternoon.
The taps inside the Gilberto will be pouring eight Pirate Life beers. Along with our core range, the Golden Era Golden Ale and our Hopco Collaboration NZ Pale Ale this will be the first chance to taste of our fourth core beer - Pirate Life IPA as well as our collaboration brew with Tomfoolery Wines - a Tempranillo barrel aged Cervaza Negra. Outside the can bar will be serving cans of the core range beers as well as tins of NZ Pale Ale.
If beer isn’t your thing we also have you covered. The can bar will be serving Four Pines Ginger Beer as well as the Hills Cider range and Wines will be supplied by the Gilbert St Hotel with a great range of SA wines available. The kitchen crew from the Gilbo will be cooking up a storm with Atherton Farms supplying a selection of free range meat for the afternoon! Crackle Pop will be there slangin Vinyl records and running the merch stand which will be stocked with our new range of Pirate Life swag. And we will be there sinking froths and celebrating.
